I think that multiculturalism over all is a good thing, it promotes tolerance and acceptance of our cultural differences, and in places where there are many different cultures this is a very good thing. Better to encourage cooperative multiculturalism than to encourage everyone to assimilate and become sheeple.

Unfortunately in England... icon_frown !

However unless people are mostly segregated it is unlikely to hold for any great length of time. It will cause a "melting" pot situation accompanied by social upheaval and tension and then a hybrid is likely to emerge.

Marhak

You are normally venerable and I really applaud your linguistic efforts, but do we have to descend with this comment?

TK, You are so naughty!!!!

Firstly, I must ask, “Is this (the image you have supplied) a real picture of the git?” Does he really look like this?

Secondly, is he really, really called Graham Facks–Martin?

Or is he just a right wing chap called Graham, who has a very close relationship with another chap, called Martin, and who would like others to know about the nature of their closeness?

Is Graham a friend of the Pinkpasty? (Apologies, Pink, if I have offended you by the mere suggestion of an amicable connection between you and the horrendous visage offered to us by TK!!) On very quick second thoughts, I am SURE you have much better taste, Pink – apologies!

marhak: 'Looks like he's having oral sex with a tribble'

How else do you imagine we are to achieve the logical extrapolation of the level of cosmic intra species melding and harmony of the kind described by Mr Graham - I am a mongrel - Facks-Martin MBE ,marhak?

'In my beginning is my end' - TS Eliot.

Now, which will you prefer, marhak - 'orse or tribble?

There's a lot of catching up to do to go backwards at the rate
Graham - I am a Mongrel - Facks-Martin MBE is set upon.

He clearly is not too keen on sparkling cultural diversity, mutual respect and appreciation and minority cultural and ethnic human rights.

He is clearly a dark harbinger of a homogenous Caramel Future.

Curiously, the http://andymanchesta.com/ICONS/1%20(67).gifUniverse has been beige all along!http://andymanchesta.com/ICONS/1%20(67).gif

You can't slap a saddle on a tribble.

Jennifer - you tell me off for a naughty comment and then make one yourself. Graham Facks-Martin and Martin Facks-Graham perhaps? Come on, we're all entitled to be naughty now and again, and I've as earthy a sense of humour as anyone.

I still think he's having oral sex with a tribble. I have studied this photograph at great length, and this is the only conclusion that I can draw.

JoeA Councillor, Graham Facks-Martin, replies:

Dear Editors
There is nothing inevitable about a Cornish Assembly it is extremely unlikely ever to happen and in my opinion extremely undesirable in any event. All the time the world is becoming a smaller place and a place that is more racially mixed which I welcome. I think that multi-culturalism should be welcomed and I very definitely do so .I am a mongrel but so are all of us if you go back far enough, if you go back even further we all came out of Africa and if you go back even further organic life arose from inorganic matter! Whilst not forgetting our local traditions hopefully we can build bridges to peoples of other races and cultures and welcome ways to break down barriers between us and others rather than seeking to erect new ones. I am proud to be British but I am also proud to be a European and more broadly of Homo Sapiens I hope that you are to.

This Five-Guinea Letter is a brilliant satire on the lunatic lust for world dictatorship. Cut it out and keep, as a warning to the coming generations.

Graham - I am a Mongrel - Facks-Martin MBE pulling the tribble over Dan Rogerson's eyes:

'Local authority members of all parties are working on the joint group that is implementing the proposals. Graham Facks-Martin, a Conservative district councillor in my constituency, is a great supporter of the South West regional assembly, in contrast to his party and, indeed, to me—I believe that we should have a Cornish assembly—and we have corresponded on the issue. He opposed the bid, but he is now working with others to deliver it and make it work, and that is a mature and responsible approach. It would be utterly disastrous to tell district council officers, “Actually, it’s all off again,” when they have started to change their careers on the basis that everything is going ahead.

The order does not go far enough. We need more and I hope that we will get more. Today, however, I shall support the order. .'

Marhak

Fair enough, O venerable Marhak. An apology from me to you is in order…..and is, with inclined head, offered to you now!

Looking at this thread – and very much more particularly the GravyDave thread (which has been moved by Chris to the Lite section), I can only observe that, whilst it may all be a great laugh for us (and IT IS!!), it might not create the right impression on casual Cornish-curious visitors to this site.

Perhaps all such stuff should be moved to the LITE section?

By the way, I notice that Moonshine’s BRILLIANT cartoons also now appear in the LITE section. They are really good!!

Best wishes to all (except, of course, Gravy and ILH – who are both probably off with Graham and Martin to discuss the fine differences between the use of straws and hose-pipe cut-offs)

No apology needed, Jennifer. I said a similar thing about Bill Nighy in his role as Davy Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean series (only it was a squid rather than a tribble) The above quote fron Dan Rogerson is enlightening, though. A Tory supports and champions a non-elected, decision-making, tax-spending entity (SWRA)and therefore supports the continued disenfranchisement (God, there's a word) of Cornish people.

And yes, I don't know where Moonshine has dreamed all this up from but some of it is hilarious. Even Paddy and I got into the last one!

I think that external viewers might be shocked and horrified at first by threads like the Gravydave one, but come to realise that we have a wicked sense of humour down here and can give as good as we get.
