As i've written on the TIC board with a lot of feeling and i expect it to be either edited or deleted, this scum Blair doesn't care about the British people. Not content with upsetting the families of the service personnel killed in the Iraq war by sending out more of them to die in a war that has nothing to do with us, but plenty to do with OIL, he is now going to let an innocent Briton civillian die at the hands of brutal Islamist militants.

Ken Bigley and his family have both made heart rending pleas and begged to the terrorists to have mercy and to Blair to help them negotiate with these terrorists and to help him be free. What does Blair do, go for a train ride with his mate Richard Branson. This scum has been voted as Prime Minister on two occasions by the majority of the British public and this is how he repays them along with all the other f*** ups his government have made. He should be out in Iraq on his knees pleading for the life of Ken Bigley. Britain does not negotiate with terrorists they say, well it wasn't that long ago when Blair released all Republican and Unionist prisoners from the Maze prison in Ulster, with compensation aswell, Britain doesn't negotiate with terrorists my ass! You can bet your bottom dollar that if it was his or one of his cabinets relations out there instead of Ken Bigley, he'd move heaven and earth to get them released.

Much as I think it is time for Tony Blair to go and that the war in Iraq was an absolute disgrace, probably ilegal and is now a quagmire, I think he actually believed he was doing the right thing.

I think Tony Blair is a bit of a moraliser and as such is probably in his own personal hell at the moment trying not to upset the Americans, taking a hardline on negotiating with terrorists and at the same time having Ken Bigley pleading to him directly for his life.

Then again it's Tony Blair's fault that Ken Bigley was in Iraq in the first place.

At the end of the day the group holding Ken Bigley are the sickest party in the whole affair, what they are doing is cold blooded and calculated. "Collateral damage" is not calculated, but then again it's not excusable.

I don't claim to be an expert on Middle East politics but I certainly saw this coming - remove a dictator and you get a power vacuum. If you don't instantly set up martial law you get anarchy. The 'Coallition' couldn't do this as they would be seen even more as invaders so guaranteed anarchy.
Add to this the country was led by the minority Suni muslims, so you've got a majority of disgruntled Shias wnating revenge and you have civil war.

As far as I can tell Iraq's best hope is in Ayatollah Sistani, the leading Shia cleric. He is relatively modern in his thinking and has condemned both kidnapping and suicide bombing.

Blair was wrong to take us into this war - the reasons were wrong, now known to be false, he lied as did his master Bush. He is certainly at fault when it comes to the deaths of service personnel, but I'm not sure he is so much at fault over the situation with Ken Bigley - he was not sent there by Blair, he chose to go and earn himself a lot of money, and I do not believe all the crap I keep hearing about these people being there to "help the Iraqi people" - some may be, but I think most are probably there to help themselves. Thery went into this situation with open eyes. Even so, there is obviously and obligation for the government to do all they can in securing his release, but I can understand the reasons for not complying with the demands of the terrorists as this would only create more hostage taking.

The real evil here is Bush - Blair is just his poodle as we all know and so has no real authority. The Iraqis were going to release one of the women, along with two other prisoners, following a review of their cases. Although we are told by Bush Iraq is now a sovereign country and has a 'legitimate' government (picked by him) and what they say goes, when the Iraqis want to release prisoners Bush says no. The reason why is because Bush wants to see more hostage deaths as this stirs up more hatred against the Muslims, and gives him more reason to control Iraq - and more importantly the oil.
