Too right red, shame i wasn't there but i listened to it on Radio Cornwall website in between silent pauses. I think the Pirates played fantastic throughout, but the first half really looked promising until the Quins experience came through in the second half.

Cornish Pirates vs Plymouth Albion quote the Pirates web site: "A local ‘derby’ game to savour – Easter Monday 17th. April, 2006 – k.o. 3p.m. ....." Camborne vs Redruth might be a local derby, Lauceston vs Redruth might just be called a local derby, but Plymouth? More of this westcountry speak rubbish I think!!!

Camborne v Redruth, a definite local derby, Lanson v Redruth a Kernewek derby, Pirates v Plymouth Albion, no derby!

It just so happens that the Cornish Pirates play in ND1, the nearest team to them in the same division is Plymouth Albion, they are our closest rivals so it's as near as damnit to a derby game.

If the cap fits. Sale v Leeds is a Lancs v Yorks clash, same intensity as a Cornwall v Devon one. Also the nearest clubs to Nottingham in ND1 are Pertemps Bees and Coventry. They would be called a Midlands derby probably.

Cornish Pirates 29 - 28 Plymouth Albion
What a match, i thought it was online and was disapointed when i found out it wasn't. I assumed it wasn't on Radio Cornwall so left it, then about half way through the second half i tuned in to find it being broadcast :x
Anyway, i listened to the rest and what a match. Pirates were up 15 - 7 at half time, but in the second half Albion took the lead with two converted tries. Pirtaes bounced back to make it 22 - 21, but right on the 40th minute, Albion scored with a converted try, 28 - 22. Well i thought that was it, but because of stoppages through injury, 6 minutes injury time was played. The Pirates piled on the pressure and in the last minute scored a try right under the posts, which Lee Jarvis converted with the last kick of the match, 29 - 28.
I felt for Albion, it was a cruel way to lose a great game, but all teams go through this at one point or another, that's how it goes. This has to be one of the best games played at Kenwyn this season, i wish i was there to see it.

You are right Andy, one of the best matches I've seen in ND1, perhaps the only one that comes close was our epic win against London Welsh 39-38 at the Mennaye a couple of seasons ago.

The match on Boxing Day was very close too. I think we could be heading towards a series of grudge matches! Well until the Pirates get promoted anyway

A close one and one I thought was lost.
A lot of good players are leaving The Pirates this season. I hope for the coming winter...

Champions of their league, and a 1000+ point season....stick that up your arse, Dicky Evans! (and go back to the Mennaye if the Kenwyn experience didn't work out!)
