Because that was the only route available within the current English RFU structure. The "County" championship is now a dead duck and we would be better off pulling out and playing a couple of "internationals" at the end of each season !
That's a good idea - Cornwall have already played these:-
New Zealand 1905, 1924
Australia 1908 (twice) - Olympic Silver medal for GB
South Africa 1906,1912
Maoris 1926
Selection Francais 1969
Comite-de-Lyonaise 1971,1972
Romania 1972
USA 1977 (Cornwall won 12-11 ! )
Canada 1979
South African Barbarians 1979
Soviet Union score was 12 - 12 1989.
Canterbury (NZ) 1994
"As a first step why can't an enterprising Cornish club get this side over here, the best Breton club who play in Federale 2 level 4 in France." http://www.rcvannes.com/
A good idea but what level would that equate to - maybe RFU Div2 ?? The problem being that most Cornish sides are tied up in promotion/relegation battles until the end of the season. I'd like to see the CRFU arrange an international against Breizh at the end of the season as there doesn't seem to be so much interest in the CC these days.
Was give a bottle of thirty year old Vodka the other day that says made in the CCCP on the label, cool.
I suggested this once, in fact Breizh have a football team that they try and get international games for, so far Brittany V Cameroon has been played.
Their football team would murder us and our rugby team them.
It would be great to see the Cornish International Sports group evolve into a permanent and popular pressure group that pushed for such events plus promoted all Cornish sport.

The trouble is in the French system clubs can be involved in promotion play-offs until the beginning of June!!! Maybe a pre-season friendly as the French clubs do not start their championship at that level until mid September.
Yes AndyQ it's for the Cornish Pirates, that's why I put it on this thread. Hopefully, in time, they may broadcast the away games also. But I'm usually at the matches anyway.
I thought Radio Cornwall still broadcast Kernow matches?
Hope they broadcast these matches!
