I think that's a bit unfair.

I'm TRYING to learn to surf, not getting very far with it.
i'm not really a 'cool' guy at school so i don't have any mates (who are surfers) to teach me. And occasionally i manage to get to the beach, but obviously i'm not very good, so io don't agree with us 'expecting respect'

I agree with you that some people will buy loads of stuff and can't do anything, but the average 'noob' can't help being bad.
