[quote]"*hiss* Luke, dha das ov vy...
"Luke, I am your father." (Think Darth Vader.)
das = tas (father) with second state mutations t->d following dha (your)."

As far as I remember, Darth Vader stressed "I" in the sentence "I am your father."

- "Obi Wan never told you the truth about what happened to your father."
- "He told me enough. He told me YOU killed him."
- "No.(hiss) I am your father."

In Cornish this would call for the "I" to be placed at the beginning of the sentence: <My yw dha das!>

Graham, we need popular films and books translated into Cornish to get people interested in it. We cannot go into schools armed with old miracle plays and Ecclesiastes in Kernewek, we won't see the kids for dust.

I understand why the god-botherers amongst us wanted the Bible translated into Cornish, but now we need the people who put so much effort into that to turn to popular books & films that people will actually be interested to read/see in Cornish, so why not start with Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Wuthering Heights and some locally-set or written books?

What does the Forum think about the Language Board having a list of people who would buy these books, and preselling them to help raise the initial funding of the Print Runs?

angofbew, this has been done with a recent, expensive Cornish Mining book successfully I believe, so it should be a good and workable way forward

:barf: I think we're drifting away from language issues here...

How about hosting an online poll where people suggest and vote for the next book to be translated by the community?

If your're not interested in the language movement Coady why waste your time reading and posting on this thread?

Good idea Flamm, I'd go initially for children's books so that there would be something to interest schools (alternatively the fabulous Orvil an Morvil series could be republished in an attractive glossy format).
