OK, new rules. This one is going to stay up for at least a couple of days, as otherwise I'll be exhausting my supply of obscure Cornish locations very rapidly.

Phew. This is proving to be a stumper.

I wonder how many of you panicked when you saw I had responded and thought, "OH NO! The Hen got it again!"

I am still searching mind you.

Yerp!
Have the next one lined up though, so wouldn't have been the end of the world!

I'll give you a clue if no one's figured it out over the weekend

I love a puzzle. icon_biggrin

What I love best about it, is the amount of Cornish heritage and history I am learning through researching where this bloody spire is.

Is it somewhere on St Michael's Mount, hang on; it's in Restormel. The castle?

I thought St Michael's Mount as well. But I could not find any picture that showed a spire like that. I looked at as many piccies of the Restormel as possible and still couldn't find a spire like that.

Though I may have just not seen good pictures of these places.

Being a black and white photo, I was wondering if it was a spire that now no longer exists.

Are there any famous historic sites in Cornwall that were badly damaged in WWII or by some natural disaster? (That would be a bugger to locate! icon_smile )

It's a folly of some sort.

(I could be referring to either the structure here, or my attempts to needle out its location. I'm just not saying.)

Is it that folly near the quarry on the back road to St Ives to Penzance.

Robert's Folly? It's built on an old fort and it's near a really creepy derelict house.

Is it the preferred design for the new Newquay sex shop? Just a thought.

I couldn't find any Roberts' Folly at all. Though this is a piccy of Rogers' Tower. Is that the one you were thinking of Joe?

Cause if it was, then it aint Rogers'!

Can anyone identify what type of tiles are on the roof? Would they be copper or lead? Is there any other substance they could be formed from?

OK, I've just changed the photo to make it a little easier. If you don't see an updated photo hit the refresh key (or F5).

Rogers' Tower is up at Castle-an-Dinas and is the place in the pic from Hen. 18th century and on the site of an ancient hill fort. Well worth having a wander around there on a Sunday afternoon
