Helston church - obviously named St Michael as he figures large in the story of the town including how it got its name. It is said that the devil was flying over Cornwall with a huge boulder which for reasons unexplained he was intending to block the gates of hell with. St Michael spotted him and a mighty battle ensued in which the archangel emerged victorious. The devil dropped his rock and it feel where Helston, or Hell's Stone, is now to be found.

Anyway, the church here dates back to the 1750s and was built to replace the earlier church which burnt down after being struck by lightning. Financed by the Earl of Godolphin the church is quite unusual by Cornish standards.
