Re: Police obsessed with Star Wars...

It's probably one of those cases where targets are creating perverse incentives, perhaps they need to record a certain level of "crime" in order to prevent resources from being directed elsewhere...

Police obsessed with Star Wars...

According to Devon and Cornwall Police (Youtube Channel)

To give some impression of the scale of the area, police headquarters in Exeter is actually nearer to London than the furthest extremity of the Force.

It's obvious the obsession with Star Wars within the Police is quite widespread.

Re: The Detectable Duchy.

Re: The Detectable Duchy.

I noticed recently that in the BBC online complaints form (while complaining about the treatment of Jody McIntyre - disabled man dragged from his wheelchair by police who was interviewed on BBC News last night) they do not allow people in Cornwall to complain to the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complai...

Re: Petrol costs and VAT

The price of oil always goes up and down according to supply and demand like any other commodity. It can also be the subject of speculative bubbles, as it was a couple of years ago when it went up to $147.

Re: Anti ConDem(n) cuts demo - Falmouth

OK, I don't mind you sharing these figures, since I've already put them online on the internet but I am not sure how precise they are, since I am not actually sure what the living costs loan will be. I assumed it to be £5k since it was about £4k when I was an undergraduate in 2002-06. Also I'm not s...

Re: Anti ConDem(n) cuts demo - Falmouth

I wrote a computer program to see how much graduates would repay and how long it would take. It's actually the case that the very richest graduates will in fact pay back less in total than only moderately rich ones because of the way the planned repayment system would work. Someone who starts on £50...

<t>100 years ago we only had one (rather eccentric) man who spoke the Cornish language, now we have several hundred fluent speakers. The disputes over orthography have undoubtably slowed progress over the past 30 years but at the averaged rate of exponential progress over the past 100 years, we can e...
