Re: Kevin Heaney

I don't want to get into an online fight with you, Tean, because, generally, I think we probably both want similar things for Cornwall, including a good Cornish rugby team playing in a 'proper' stadium. I also want to avoid tit for tat boasting/CV-ing online, though I can tell you that few on this f...

Re: Cornwall Councillors Give Themselves A 20% Pay-Rise

Something like that Zennorman, though the Cornish commission looking into this should be made up of people with a minimum understanding of Cornish economics, wages, employment, business environment, politics, inflation, etc... So maybe not based on a jury-selection system... Doesn't have to be the g...

Re: Kevin Heaney

Heaney has undoubtedly done wrong over Truro City Football Club's ground. Let's hope that justice prevails and they get the freehold that's rightfully theirs back where it belongs. Done wrong???!!! Truro understatement of the decade! The bloke should be strung up and left hanging from the Amazon br...

Re: Cornwall Councillors Give Themselves A 20% Pay-Rise

The matter of councillors' allowances should be entirely taken out of their hands and given to a different body to deal with - but that is down to Westminster not Cornwall. Therein lies the problem... If we're to start thinking, believing even, that we can run our own race, without having to contin...

Re: Slimslad on this is not Cornwall

Good work you & Tristan...

As you say, complain, complain, complain and keep records of everything. Write to your MP, for sure, and keep pressure up on anti-Cornish publishing houses. If only more could be bothered to stick up for their own...

Re: A modest proposal of autonomy for Cornwall

Although trying your best to stir us Cornish into waking up to the broader longer term issues facing Cornwall, Factotum, you do make some valid points, not least because you obviously know and understand Scotland better than most here. But I completely disagree with you re. Wales, as I don't believe...

Re: The Bristol Pound. A Cornish Pound ?

The country already exists, Factotum, it just needs a few well placed legal arguments to formalise its existence within the current British constitutional situation, and to bring that reality to the people. This may take a bit of time and a few ££££'s too... I don't understand why, when those that a...

Re: Getting more people to speak Cornish

As for the answer, I'd say a good start would be far greater support by local government and the community alike, for language schools, especially the early years, like the DIWAN model in Brittany (great success).

Re: Getting more people to speak Cornish

I think overall your point is valid, Factotum. However, you're anecdotal evidence is floored and limited, and I would also say that to put all the Celtic languages into one basket is wrong, as they're at very, very different stages in their 'revival'. You're certainly correct about Catalan, except t...

I was banned years ago, and when I asked why, they couldn't tell me, other than to say that the ban was permanent! This followed a run-in with usual crowd, including big ger; nuff said... Can't be bothered to post under another username, as they'll prob. ban my IP address, or ban my new username, sh...

Re: 'Devonwall' looks set to return to political agenda

Yes, unsurprisingly...

What have our 6 current MP's got to say about it?

Does anyone write to them?

I presume Sarah Newintown & Sheryll Murray will just do what they're told, like two good little girls, but what of George Eustice, and the 3 Libdems (who will presumably revolt)?

Re: Kevin Heaney

From the frying pan into the fire.... In the meantime, what's happened to the land/ground, which NEVER belonged to Heaney or any other developer in the first place? I see plans for a stadium have been scaled down to 3,000-seater; what for? Who for? Pirates are back down in Penzance, with an average ...
