Re: Cornwall's National St Piran Flag - Appearing Near You?

So by your statement PT you cannot be Cornish either as it doesn't exist. But of course you know that the Union Flag is there representing these Islands.

I've got family in Scotland and, believe me, it's by no means certain that they will vote for Independence

Re: CAPITA FIRM UP IN LONDON

What annoys me is the media keep calling the 25% discount for a single occupier a "benefit". It is nothing of the sort as it is just making the Council Tax a little bit fairer. Band A in Penwith has a tax of £949.74. A single occupier will pay £712.30, however consider that two adults living in a ba...

This is a rumour but it could be a true one; "Truro City FC Treyew Ground has been sold to London Property Company Helical Bar. Helical Bar stated they want to develop the land and will purchase an alternative Stadium/Ground for Truro City FC. http://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/Truro-City-ground-sold-H...

Re: DOWN WITH THE BUTCHERS APRON

Just as I flew the Baner Peran in my garden when I lived in England if the St Day man is English then he has every right to fly his own country's flag if he so wishes. If he is Cornish then it is a different matter entirely.

Re: Kevin Heaney

From the frying pan into the fire.... In the meantime, what's happened to the land/ground, which NEVER belonged to Heaney or any other developer in the first place? I see plans for a stadium have been scaled down to 3,000-seater; what for? Who for? Pirates are back down in Penzance, with an average...

Re: Kevin Heaney

The fact is that over the expenses scandal more Labour MP's were prosecuted than Tory. Jaqui Smith claimed £116,000.00 for home allowance for living in a room in her sister's house so how she escaped being prosecuted is a mystery.

Re: Churchill appealing PZ Gasworks refusal

Penzance did have the opportunity to become a University town back in the late nineties but thanks to opposition from within and a District Council with no vision it was killed off. Now Penryn and Falmouth are the beneficiaries of Penzance's lack of foresight. Don't get me wrong I love Penzance as i...

Re: Cultural Cleansing for the Cameras - the Olympic Spirit

Immediately after winning the gold medal Ben Ainslie was interviewed and he said then that he owed a lot to Cornwall and the support he received from the Cornish people and thanked them for it. This was while he was still in his boat and it was the first thing he said. Helen Glover has also had a lo...

Re: 'This is Cornwall'' -and Cornwall @ the Olympics...

Being pedantic may I point out that it is Team GB who are competing in the Olympics and the official anthem of GB is GSOQ.
It is a mournful dirge and I wish GB could come up with something a bit more stirring.

btw didn't see Wales trashing the Aussies this summer. ;)

Re: Pleased to see it, and good for 'Visit Cornwall'

Just as a point of interest has anyone read the full text of Mr Bell's remarks as he also said - quote/We would never deny we're a county and deny that we're actually part of England."/unquote. Please don't shoot the messenger. It seems he is hedging his bets a little so as not to upset the English ...
