Re: The Smoking Ban - An Unmitigated Disaster.

Pubs close because people are spending their leisure time differently. It is a pleasure for us to go to a pub or restaurant without chocking or coming out stinking from other peoples cancer sticks.

Haven't been on this Forum for a while

....and it looks dead in the water. All discussion denied by abuse from some who hate Kernow and others who pretend to love it.

Some talk. Some get on wth it.

Re: English Defence League in Kernow (?)

Intresting that the EDL use the slogan 'home rule' in Cornwall. Saw some of their wretched posters on the back of a road sign in Hayle last week. In reality these people have a pin prick impact on the Cornish conciousness.

Re: Britain is failing Wales, Scotland and the regions.

Cornwall HAS to have devolution to survive in the future. There is an irony that the national 'state' is being rolled back in the sense of provision. The only way that Cornwall has a future s through raising its own taxes, running its own services, protecting and managing its environment and dealing...

Re: Britain is failing Wales, Scotland and the regions.

MK has always looked to Plaid as a supportive sister party but I worry reading this that Leanne Wood is using the 'English question' as a justification for allowing progress in Wales, leaving Cornwall high and dry as part of a 'south west region'. Prescott was never willing to vary what were conside...

Re: CORNISH ASSEMBLY aka Cornwall Council (temp) 2013-17 Rec

There was never a vote on whether people wanted the unitary so we do not know for sure what the 'majority' would have wanted. If we had stuck with the same system Cornwall would be bankrupt by now. Seven lots of expensive senior management, districts and the county arguing amongst themselves, even b...

Re: CORNISH ASSEMBLY aka Cornwall Council (temp) 2013-17 Rec

In terms of numbers a Rainbow Coalition is not needed because the Liberals and the Independents have a majority. No other party is needed. However, there are some 'Indepedents' who really have sympathy for a range of parties.

Re: Cornish Nation Cornwall Council Election Results May 2 2

As the Liberal Democrats believe in Proportional Representation (as many on the - ahem - 'progressive left' do) then surely on these figures the Tories are entitled to more seats and therefore have a moral right to be the largest party? How about a coalition of MK and Independents with the Greens? ...

Re: Cornwall Councillors Give Themselves A 20% Pay-Rise

Then one solution Stephen is that parish council meetings are streamed on the internet as they do with Cornwall Council meetings. Cornwall Councillors could then watch the proceedings and contribute via Skype etc rather than claiming for time and travel that is pointless. I guess that some older or ...
