postponed until at least after the next general election. The fight isn't over forever but it's a heck of a lot better than a kick in the teeth...

Re: The 2nd Cornish National Minority Report

I'll preface my comments by stating that I am not now nor have I ever been a member of MK. You can probably guess my affiliation from my username... However I do think that Dick is an excellent leader, basically because I think he understands the balance between remaining true to your core principle...

Re: Cornwall's head of state

interestingly I just found that (according to Wiki...) James Stuart, although his father James II had been kicked off the throne in 1689, was not attainted as Duke of Cornwall until 1702. Obviously it was Parliament who attainted him, because he had then claimed the throne (his father having died) b...

Re: Cornwall's head of state

a question that someone can no doubt answer: what is the Cornish position on the various historical disputes as to how the monarchy of the UK, and therefore effectively the incumbent of the Duchy, was chosen? I obviously refer to the Glorious Revolution but also to the various other disputes - Matil...

Re: The 2nd Cornish National Minority Report

a bit cheeky - you edited out his 'only'! he wasn't suggesting (I think) that getting MK elected wasn't valuable,
only that it was incorrect to believe that it's why *only* way to move forwards

Konsel An Dre Essa

Following the whole bounaries hoo-hah Saltash TC has voted to use 'Konsel An Dre Essa' alongside Saltash Town Council on our letterhead etc.. To my knowledge Redruth TC and Cambourne TC already do similar. In the week leading up to St Piran’s Day we also put up around 40 St Piran’s Flags in Fore St,...

Re: Cornish Census 2011

just to say that Saltash TC has put out a press release encouraging everyone to fill in the census generally (not least for funding reasons!) but also making them aware that they can put 'Cornish' to Q15, 16 and 18. Keep Cornwall Whole, which is less restrained in what it can say, has put out someth...

Re: Keep Cornwall Whole - a statement

<blushes> a great compliment, though I was born and bred in Lancashire and only arrived in your fair Duchy five and a bit years ago (blame my, Cornish born and bred, wife!) some faintly encouraging noises coming from the Lords - not saying we've got it nailed or anything: i'd still estimate no bette...

Re: Keep Cornwall Whole

Robin [Lord] Teverson: the Keep Cornwall Whole campaign in Cornwall...goes across all political parties, including the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats, the Labour Party, Mebyon Kernow and the Greens. We are united in trying to protect the boundary of the Tamar and therefore its historical, cult...

Keep Cornwall Whole - a statement

Dear all, Isn’t it very annoying when you write something out in full and the blasted computer swallows it making you write it all again? I have just joined the forums – I would have before but am very bad at not responding to debate, so with all of the Keep Cornwall Whole/Mayoral/Teaching/Environme...

Re: Lib Dems in the Duchy in crisis - any information anyone

If it helps I can report that the Lib Dems just won a town council by-election in Saltash, in what is probably our hardest to win of the four wards.
