Perhaps someone should look at the place name evidence for Avonwick and Aveton Gifford.

Mind you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Avon,_Devon gives it as Avon / Aune...

Karesk raises an important point...

Should placename evidence from occupied territory (i.e. Devon) be included? and up to what point in time do we assume it ceases to be Cornish (enough)?
