Re: Create A Cornish Administration.

Graham @ Up near the top of this page you happened to mention "Queens Bench. The highest "Law"court in the land where statutes and legislation have no standing", your words. As it happens I've just been reading through a recent appeal court judgement "In the High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Divi...

Re: Cornwall Council Sitting on £30 Million.

If the houses belong to the council and are empty and getting vandalised, then clearly they need to be squatted as soon as possible. That would at least put the council on the spot, and the chances are they'd license the occupants. I've never seen the sense in parking charges, at least once the cost...

Re: Cornwall Council Sitting on £30 Million.

Well Graham if you ran a business you'd want to make a profit so you could afford to feed yourself etc. Not all businesses are profitable, some go bust. When the go bust they're no longer able to provide whatever goods or services the once provided. If they didn't do anything people were prepared to...

Re: Cornwall Council Sitting on £30 Million.

If you're suggesting that Cornwall Council is a 'for profit corporation' as it might be called in the States, then you'll need to tell me who its shareholders are, how much dividend they get and so on. Hell, they might be worth investing in, who wouldn't want to invest in Cornwall if that was how it...

Re: Create A Cornish Administration.

I suspect that more people need the ability to understand a balance sheet than to comprehend the infinitesimal calculus, yet the schools teach the latter but not the former. Now there we might well have a cunning plan to keep us oiks in our place.

Re: Cornwall Council Sitting on £30 Million.

How many times ... A corporate structure (limited co., I&PSoc, chartered corporation ...) is simply a structure that allows a body of people to function collectively with respect to the world at large. E.g. to enter into legal contracts and so forth, as if they were a separate entity from their indi...

Re: Create A Cornish Administration.

Fulub @ Such ventures are tried from time to time and it's always worth having another go. The problem is essentially one of capital and then of trust. The sad fact is that the only people who are keen on sharing are usually those who are piss poor (and so have nothing to lose). Those with substanti...

Re: Create A Cornish Administration.

Graham @ A simple Google of "Cornwall Council balance sheet" took me immediately to their latest accounts. The url is too long copy here, just Google the above phrase and it's the first entry. These are afaik a/c that have been signed off by the auditor, not estimates, projections, budgets etc. The ...

Re: Create A Cornish Administration.

But the debt is still outstanding! As for the 'supremacy' or the Common Law, I can see how that misunderstanding could arise. Parliament passes bills which after getting the royal assent become law, but it is then up to the judges to interpret the legislation. If you enquire about some point of law,...

Re: Cornwall Council Sitting on £30 Million.

Graham, you're always going on about everything and anything being a 'corporation', well every corporate body as a condition of having its own legal personality has to produce properly audited accounts each year, and in most cases these have to be made public. That's part of the deal of gaining corp...
