Just a quick translation check

Hi,

The organiser of a Christmas (Craft) Market to be held in Penzance has asked if I could translate Christmas Market into Cornish...as you may be aware, my Cornish isn't that great, so I wanted to check.

Would it be "Varghas Nadelik"?

Have I got this right about Kevin Lavery?

I thought I'd ask here because of the amount of member on C24 who are Kevin Lavery fans and would obviously know their facts. But is this book "Smart Contracting for Local Government Services: Processes and Experience (Privatizing Government: An Interdisciplinary)" by our favourite Chief Exec? http:...

Re: A bit of help please for a poster

The out of focus Engish was the point really, which was why I needed to make sure I had the Cornish right. If one person looks at that poster and thinks "Ooh, that's interesting, i'm going to look into Cornish a bit" than I think it's done it's job. English is at the bottom, because this is an Engli...

Re: A bit of help please for a poster

Thanks GanO...the posters been done now, so it's a bit late (my fault for leaving it late anyway), but I get to keep your suggestions for the next time! For those wanting to know what the poster turned out like...if I can get the link below to work http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs561.a...

A bit of help please for a poster

I want to be able to write "This is not a poster for Hanterhir and Punch Judy live at the Clipper Bar in Camborne on Friday 3rd December...that hasn't been designed yet" or something relatively similar in Cornish "Nyns yw hemma an arwoedh a Hanterhir ha Punch Judy gwary byw yn an Clipper Bar yn Camb...

Re: UN declares Cornish Language IS NOT extinct !

Trouble is I've yet to hear it spoken on the streets of Cornwall. The problem with Cornish is was only spoken, by what would be regarded at the time as the peasantry and never written. (Can anyone name a book written first in Cornish then translated into English?) Also because it wasn't written muc...

Re: What Direction Now For MK ?

The Cornish have been denied their basic history. Hear hear...my biggest bugbear with Cornwall is the fact that I was never given the opportunity to learn about MY history and the history of my fellow Cornish...it's such a big bugbear in my semi-autistic brain that it generally manifests as either ...

Re: Duchy pay its own way? Now there's a thought ....

I'm just interested in the idea that Cornwall Council actually leases beaches from the Duchy...surely this is one area the council can save money? The RNLI should remain funded by the council...any "essential" service like this should...but renting a beach? What a load of toss! This thread highlight...

Re: What Direction Now For MK ?

I red on here somewhere that somebody was unhappy with the way some MK candidates dress and present themselves. Fair enough and in some cases I tend to agree but the answer is for you to put on your best suit and get off your ass and go out door knocking for MK. Then when a local council position i...
