Re: I'm a blatant self publicist

It's not so much the spelling that I find hard, it's the pronunciation of the spelling! I figure that being Cornish, and knowing/having the accent helps though.

I'm in Pool (for my sins), but brought/dragged up in Carharrack!

Re: I'm a blatant self publicist

Hi Marhak,

I wrote some lyrics, some were corrected by a friend and some were just me taking phrases and reworking them. My main trouble now is learning more Cornish for more songs, it's easier in english, but that's not really the point for me.

Re: I'm a blatant self publicist

There will be more songs in Cornish, it's just a matter of getting my head around it. I was taught no Cornish at all...funnily enough we have a song (in english) about that...basically I'm a little (to say the least) disappointed that, as far as I can see, the English schooling system and County (so...

Re: I'm a blatant self publicist

third person singular present subjunctive? I'm proud...but a little confused! My Redruth school education has let me down again!

But thanks, it's really my first attempt at trying to understand the Cornish language

I'm a blatant self publicist

Heres my bands latest single (well it will be a single once it's out). It's my first attempt at writing in Cornish so be a little sympathetic...to be honest, it's pretty much my first attempt at any Cornish at all

Re: First Solar Farm - ?

I guess the land at Wheal Jane is probably never even going to get as far as being classified brownfield, there's still alot of work there that goes on with dealing with "waste" etc, and the surrounding area is so arsenic laden that it would be pretty irresponsible to do anything agriculturally base...

First Solar Farm - ?

from the ENDS report... Planning permission for UK’s first solar farm The UK's first solar farm could be operational in two months after it received planning permission from Cornwall Council. Slough-based 35 Degrees will build the 1.5 megawatt peak capacity farm at the former Wheal Jane tin mine, ne...

Re: Longest Cornish Bloodline?

To my shame, if you go back to the 1600's you'll find that some of my family are from England...we don't talk about that much as you can imagine...

Also my grandfather was born in Camborne...the shame of it!!!

Re: Colony

Trevorpen's right...I have alot of problems with Cornish feeling hard done by...that's not even a Cornish attitude as far as I'm concerned...it's a typically english one. It may be hard down here for some of us, either to live or to deal with such shitehawks as the Council etc, but (if you'll excuse...

Re: George Eustice

Unfortunately I can see why voters here chose Eustice. At a Question Time type debate I went to before the elections he was easily the most enigmatic, he understood and responded to all the questions well and was able to debate calmly and reasonably. Julia Goldsworthy was a slippery little turd, Jud...

Green Paper for Culture?

Has anyone seen/replied to this? I haven't had time to read it yet, but will do ASAP...I've got a feeling that the Council's notion of culture willbe a bit of a joke though...

Re: Jail to be built in Cornwall

When criminals get out of prison, where do they go? Back home or do they hang around the area? My greatest concern is with a number of prisoners who don't have anything going for them so might stick around in Cornwall. then it makes sense to schedule releases for the non-summer months and situate t...

Re: Support for Davidstow wind farm

Also bear in mind that the proposed turbines, something like 14 of them, are FOUR times higher than any others operating in Cornwall. This height alone is ridiculous - with the wind speeds we get, they simply don't need this sort of height, or anywhere near it. This proposal deserves to be kicked o...

Re: Support for Davidstow wind farm

Saxons cum and beniastrolab appear to be one and the same people........ Saxons cum in the World Cup thread "Not arguing with that, TK, if I can address you as such." beniastrolab in this thread "I thought I'd have a go TK (is it ok if I call you that?!)" I'm not really sure if I should be insulted...
