Re: Support for Davidstow wind farm

I thought I'd have a go TK (is it ok if I call you that?!). I was under the assumption that there were only to be 5 turbines, somewhere I've got mixed up! Whilst I agree that AONB areas shouldn't be harmed, I would've thought that pretty much everywhere in Cornwall should come under this blanket ban...

Re: Cornwall Development Company

or in the new St Austell redevelopment I'd forgotten about that one totally...looks lovely...pity it doesn't look like it fits, and I'm sure that in 20 years time it'll look as outdated as an episode of Juliet Bravo. My favourite bit about that development was the knocking down of the multi-storey ...

Re: Support for Davidstow wind farm

Beniastrolab - where do you get that idea from? We have wind farms in Cornwall. Several of them. However, none except the Bonython site impinges upon an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, policies for the protection of which have been in place for decades, and should be sacred. (I can't say I like...

Re: Support for Davidstow wind farm

Cheers TK, whilst I see your point...sort of...it seems a little purile. Do you honestly think that there are going to be solar panels/photovoltaic cells on every South facing roof in Cornwall? What happens when someone doesn't want one, objects to the glare that they get and complains about the vie...

Re: Support for Davidstow wind farm

whilst not wanting to argue or disagree with anyone (I'm new here!), objections to this kind of development have always seemed pathetic and scrabbling for "science" in any way possible. With the exception of 4 years abroad (in England) I've lived here for all my life and find it disgusting that the ...

Re: Cornwall Development Company

I have a feeling that the brief is to ensure the consistent building of properties that have no architectural value in the Cornish landscape. The architect who designed the Truro College buildings also designed the Pool "Innovation" Centre and the buildings to be built around the Pool East Hill Junc...

Re: Nationalists Block Bridge

I've noticed a tendency in Northcliffe to moderate away my more sensible posts. Has anyone else? Even still, anyone with a modicum of sensible thought can see that the anti-Cornish there are nothing more than racist...but it would help occasionally if the Cornish didn't come across as anti-English t...

Re: Cornwall Development Company

Looks like lets run Cornwall by selling it off to English developers. It's almost as if someone's said "Let's find those whom we can trust the least and put them in charge". The Cornwall Development Company is a joke managing pie in the sky developments and ensuring that Cornish money goes to Engli...

As far as I'm aware Carrek, this prison is going to be religion based as well (no doubt Christianity).

Re: Heresy

Whilst I don't understand too much, I'd like to point out that the majority of the "Duchy of Cornwall" is in Devon (as far as Prince Charles' Duchy of Cornwall goes anyway).

To refer to both Cornwall and the Duchy of Cornwall as the same thing will only bring about confusion.

Translation help

Hi,

I play in a band and was wondering what "Live at" or "Performing at" would be in Cornish so that I can make sure it's written on the posters.

Any help would be lovely!

Re: Getting More People to Speak Cornish

the insular nature of Cornish Speakers and the anal approach to the language . Would you care to elaborate? I'm concerned that you get this impression, and I think I know what you mean, but it would do know harm to get an 'outsider's' viewpoint. IMHO the Kesva in particular needs to behave much mor...
