Does it matter? What matters is that we have Cornish teams competing in competitions so Cornish people can support them = make your pledge now

How does Campaign Kernow respond to the comments in the interview that:

1) His fight is not with the CommonWealth Games, it's with the British Government
2) If proceedings should commence...the Commonwealth Games would seek security of costs
3) The legitimacy of Campaign Kernow
4) The basis of the legal challenge
5) The remedy they seek

Campaign Kernow's response is that we have a legal team that believes we have every right to participate.

What do you think this is ? A fun run ?

I concur entirely with CJenkin and the anonymous Plymouth Argyle fan. Graham Hart's campaign is the most positive I have seen on this forum and makes a pleasant change from the endless English-bashing the and entirely pointless squabbling about events which happened 500 or more years ago.

I repeat: good luck to you.

The problem is that the events of 500 years ago are directly related to the position we find ourselves in today. They can't be dismissed so easily. True, they're not the only factor (behaviour of successive dukes is another) but an important one, all the same.

Yes, I quite agree with you and I'm far from dismissing them, especially as I believe they had an effect on the way we are today on both sides of the Tamar.

Er, wrong Marhak the 1908 Olympic rugby final was between Great Britain and Australia. It was the fact that Cornwall were the Champions of the English Counties that year that they were asked to represent Great Britain. They were not playing as Cornwall.

Are you quoting that as a positive or negative tean?

BTW, I heard a couple of weeks back, that the whole Team came from the East Pool mine. Can anyone throw any light on that ?

It was not meant to be negative as far as Kernow is concerned because it is a fact that Great Britain was represented by the Cornish County winning side that year. It's just that we are quick to criticise outsiders if they do not have the facts right. In this case as it was the Olympics the match was officially between Great Britain and Australia.

What Good Am I ?

What good am I - if I’m like all the rest
If I just turn away - when I see how you’re dressed
If I shut myself off - so I cant hear you cry
What good am I?

What good am I - if I know and don’t do
If I see and don’t say - if I look straight through you
If I turn a deaf ear - to the thundering sky
What good am I?

What good am I - while you softly weep
And I hear in my head - what you say in your sleep
And I freeze in the moment - like the rest who don’t try
What good am I?

What good am I then - to others and me
If I had every chance - and yet still fail to see
With my hands tied must I - not wonder within
Who tied them and why - and where must I have been?

What good am I if I say foolish things
And I laugh in the face - of what sorrow brings
And I just turn my back - while you silently die
What good am I?

The Cornwall team, although representing Great Britain, nonetheless did not wear the official colours of the GB Olympic team in that final. They wore the Cornish black and gold. The team photo, taken before kick-off, is there for all to see in 'Cornish World' Issue 60 (Oct/Nov 2008). It has also to be said that the Australian team wore the sky-blue of New South Wales.

Correct, though in the case of Australia (which was only 7 years old at that stage) it was I believe not because the team was entirely the NSW team (Rugby played only in NSW and Qld really) but due to there being no accepted national sporting colors ... in fact it was many decades before the later established official Australian Commonwealth colours of blue and gold were superceded by green and gold as used today.

It should be noted that it was the media who raised the matter of the 1908 Olympic team. It bares absolutely no relevance at all to our case.
