 Long Overdue But Just More Unjust Tinkering

Some way to go to restore all the abundant and sufficient residential housing to residential use,
simultaneously pushing back that connected catastrophic concrete tsunami currently threatening to engulf Kernow ...

ZONE - RESIDENTIAL HOUSING FOR RESIDENTS
ZONE - TOURIST ACCOMMODATION FOR TOURISTS

+ USE FISCAL INSTRUMENTS TO PENALISE TO THE HILT
ANTI-SOCIAL, ANTI-COMMUNITY MULTIPLE RESIDENTIAL HOUSING ACQUISITION.

Shelter - a basic human need essential as prerequisite for living meaningful lives. NOT an optional commodity.

Oh, I do hope so. Not just second homes, but also the likes of Lord Falmouth and all his empty derelict cotttages. Better late than never. Personally, I think council tax on second homes should be pushed up to 150%, with our rates lowered accordingly as some sort of compensation for subsidising the privileged for so many years.

That (and more!) would also assist with spotting them in the woodwork when it comes to  THIS

100% parity would make genuine full-time-resident-voting-only 'democracy' more difficult to deliver.

Not to mention the disgusting episode of the fishermen's quay at Helford.

Not before time.

We highlighted this huge issue to the council over 15 years ago, when villages like Portscatho, Portloe, St Mawes, Fowey, Mevag., to name but a few, we're being decimated, and insisted 2nd home owners pay at least 150% council tax. The council agreed to 100% only, but then literally hours before the decision was actually made, did its usual U-turn in favour of the wealthy very part time residents with little to contribute to village life, other than hugely inflating house prices, thus driving out all 18-35 year old locals from the areas they grew up in, whether or not these locals are working (I can't speak for other areas, but local youngsters on Roseland are not work shy and usually start work locally the minute they leave school, if they don't go on to FE/HE).

Quite a few. Cornwall Council said it would stamp on it, but has it?
