Here is a thoughtful article from the other end of Britain, maybe you'd like to discuss it from a Cornish perspective (or maybe not) ...

Politics it seems like God moves in mysterious ways. The third largest UK political party is now, not the LibDems, not UKIP, but believe it or not ... the SNP, and people are still signing up like there's no tomorrow. And Cornwall? Hello Cornwall? Are you all **** dead? Or something worse that dead ... English!

Not really, most of that is misinformation, probably put out to muddy the waters. The real question is why the numbers voting in the highest YES areas were noticeably lower than elsewhere. The weak link in the chain was the transport of ballot boxes from polling stations to the counting centres. There was no proper security (e.g police guard, observers riding shotgun). Because all the votes were added up nationally, you could simply lose a pile of votes from a mainly YES area, without even having to look at them, to bias the vote. There's a video out there somewhere where someone is sitting in a van and pulling dozens of ballot papers out of a bag he found dumped, and they all seem to be YES votes.

More to the point though, the UK government broke their own rules by making new offers in the last few days, moving the goalposts in effect. The Beeb was of course totally biased, there's even an academic study showing that, the guy who did it, and it really was a genuine piece of academic research, was really put out when the Powers that Be had a quiet word with his head of dept. 'suggesting' that he work be suppressed. He's on YouTube somewhere too. Don't you just love our wonderful democracy.

Meanwhile the SNP membership has nearly trebled, up to about 70k, which is I think now more than half the size of the Tories UK-wide. How this is going to pan out is unclear, but it should be interesting.

It is not misinformation when you see vote rigging before your very eyes.

No, most of the clips have been explained by people who know how the system works. However putting them out and then discrediting them is standard operating procedure. I.e. you have some really silly claims that are easily dismissed and then whenever the public sees *any* claim they dismiss it as "just another loony conspiracy theory". Postal votes were also another weak point, and there were rather a lot of those, the rules having been relaxed. It's been said (confirmation??) that postal employees were instructed to forward all postal votes to somewhere in the North of England, where they could have been tampered with as the undercover agencies have their own sections within sorting centres. Whether anyone will own up to this publicly is doubtful as IIRC postal employees are subject the the Official Secrets Act and wouldn't in any case want to risk their jobs, especially if the operation took place in England and those involved were English.

The establishment didn't need to rig the vote, they had already rigged the election.

No Devo Max option! Meaning that whilst the "YES" campaign only had independence to offer, the "NO" campaign could offer anything up to, but not quite, full blown independence just to win, knowing that afterwards they could do just what they wanted anyway. That, coupled with the bullshit and media bias..................Who needs to play about with the ballot papers?
