It sounds a bit obvious, so you've probably done it already, but have you tried googling her name?

Best of luck. Have you done electoral roll searches? They can be helpful.

I suggest googling 'electoral roll search UK' or similar.

I did it several years ago to find someone and was successful, although cant remember the site used.

Hi Joanie - yes have done this, Ruth has probably married as well, so surname will be different:( with 4 surnames to research just hoping rather someone somewhere might see my post on this or anoher forum, or one of the local newspapers will eventually get back to be.

thanks Joanie for your advice.....

Have you tried your local public library? They may well have electoral rolls, maybe even old ones. Normally www.b4u.co.uk is quite good as it's free, but it isn't working at the moment.

Hi David, I live in Twickenham Middlesex, but researching the area of Looe cornwall for my sister, yes i know in the past have used b4usearch so many times, and it has come up trumps in the search for my mum, and other fmaily som any times, but sadly due to government legistration its doubtful if it will placed back on line.......Ah well keep plodding on

Does anyone have any titles for local newspapers?

slightly morbid, but if u arent having any luck maybe u should check the death register

b4usearch was massively in breech of the data protection act

Found one now in the death index - checking out now
Edenbridge Kent the place of my mothers birth, the registry office is now carrying out a search using our mothers birth and death certificate, to see if they can find a cross match, I live in hope....... :-)
