Congratulations to all at NASA for a safe Shuttle mission, and especially to the seven crew who are among the bravest people on (or off) the planet.

AndyQ,

Governments in the developed world have far more than enough spare cash floating around to wipe out poverty and disease in the Third World, without stopping a single space flight. Having all the money to do it, but not doing it should make you think - why haven't they? It's not an either-or choice.

Better to transfer money from military spending than to put the brakes on the human thirst for knowledge and exploration by stopping spaceflight.
