If the French had won and invaded Britain, would they have tried to promote the Celtic languages (unlike they do at the moment) as a means of undermining the English language and gaining support from Celtic parts of Britain?

Things had changed a lot since 1066.
France had sent knights to support Owain Glyndwr's campaign in Cymru, and by 1746 some French troops had arrived to fight for HRH Prince Charlie at Culloden (although they were not involved in the battle).
I think the French would have been happy to have the Celts as allies in Britain, ready to quell any English uprising that may occur.
