Carrek is under no obligation to respond to your trolling, Tybm.

I suppose you haven't read the book. It's a cracker. An excellent read in English, now available in good comprehensible Cornish.

You don't need Carrek to tell you whether the language Captain Smollett uses when he talks to Jowan Hir Silver is a success or a failure. You could just buy the book and read it for yourself and make up your own mind. It's available from Amazon.co.uk or directly from Spyrys a Gernow.

Carrek - ha ty ow mires orth an wiasva ma arta, a vynnydh mar plek redya an dastros po argemmyn ma rag an lyver?

'The translator of this classic work has explored the idea of using both Middle and Late Cornish forms to contrast his characters' backgrounds and social position. This is a stylistic idea which others have thought of, but one which is technically quite difficult to achieve. It's great to see it done, however, by someone whose Cornish is well up to the challenge. Nicholas 'Golvan' Williams looks to have made an excellent job of it. All his readers have to do is to get their heads round what may be unfamiliar vocabulary and idioms from whichever form of the language they're less familiar with. '

Dhe'th tyb ejy neb re redyas an lyver, a yw an lavarow ma gwir? Owth oberi mars yma an kynnik ma, a vynnydh diskwedhes dhyn nebes ensamplow rag previ henna?
