Alys y'n vro a varthusyon

Post by Evertype » Tue Oct 04, 2011 7:27 pm

Has anyone got a copy of the first 1990 edition of this? I have Ray Edwards' third 1994 edition.

I owned a copy of it ordered in error by my bookshop, (I was after Nicholas' version and it was returned) though I imagine it was a later edition. It's still in the bookshop - spiral-bound on A4.

Has anyone got the 1990 or 1993 editions of Ray Edwards' translation?

In 2015 there will be a celebration of 150 years since the publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, one part of which will be a set of volumes published by Oxford which will contain bibliographies of all the editions of Alice in as many languages as can be found. The 1994 edition of Ray Edwards' translation describes its differences from the 1993 and 1990 editions. The editor of the celebratory volume has asked me to try to find out more about those editions, as we only have the 1994 edition.

According to COPAC, the 1990 edition was named Alys y'n Vro a Varthusi, not Alys y'n Vro a Varthusyon as the 1994 edition is named. We do not know about the 1993 edition. And we have questions about foliation.

So, has anyone got the 1990 or 1993 editions of Ray Edwards' translation?

Since you don't have anything to contribute, Tim, why don't you just be quiet?

Thanks.

Yes, but that's not news to anybody, and it's not interesting. For heaven's sake he's stalking me, if his post on a thread he started on 2 July is any indication.

In any case...

Gojy, ella, ogh ha tru!

Poor Evertype's thread seems to have been buried under the copious logorhoeic effluent of the 'cloaca maxima in absentia' of our language Revival, the aptly named 'cach-varth fyllys' (whose output nowadays seems to more cach and scant bardhonek).

Aah, bechod!
