I will look forward to hearing if its release, so that I can publicise it here through the Cornish Assoc of NSW newsletter. I have a number of Brenda's records, and a CD, and remember foldly meeting her in South Australia and also doing a interview (with her on the panel) on BBC Radio 'when it was still for Cornwall' with Chris Blount.mockinbird wrote:As I've now found this thread I'm adding this information quite simply because some 'readers' may not have seen my post etc about the Brenda Wootton Cd that will now be produced. If ever anyone epitomise Cornish music past, present and now future it is Brenda.
We weren't too sure what to do with the tapes of her 1984 Paris concert with Camborne Town band, but have so much lovely warm response, we are going to make it available. The analog recording has been digitised ( like I know what that means!) but it still requires lots of work, but it will happen.

Hello, Kevrenor,
If you could send me your e.mail address, through the living in cornwall site reply link, I will be delighted add you to our list. I don't know if one can send private messages through this site.
I know Brenda loved her trip to NSW, didn't she record a song about some of your mining towns, Bendigo and others.

I think Brenda only came to South Australia, which is where I first met her. She sang a song, maybe written by Dick Gendall?, called 'Do you come from Moonta, Wallaroo, Kadina, surely you're a Cousin jack from down under. I have the '45'.

Your quite right Chris; recorded by Brenda in 1985 with the children from Ludgvan CP school and written by Richard. When you think that the Paris concert was in 1984, she came out to Oz in 1985, headlined L'Orient festival in 1986 with an amazing piece of work again by Richard, about a legendary woman called Anne Jefferys from St. Teath, many people aren't aware of her international status.
Apart from being her recording engineer, my husband backed her on guitar at L'Orient and it was amazing to see the way the public and press responded to her.

As long as a hundred of us remain alive, we shall never give in to the domination of the English. We fight not for glory, not for wealth nor honours but only and alone for freedom, which no good man surrenders but with his life...
